Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi has said that the Supreme Court had taken the opinion of the judges to make the rules and the members who have objections should give their written opinion.

Addressing a judicial conference in Islamabad, Justice Yahya stated that the facilitation center will start functioning fully from October 1 that will have all information. The delivery of justice through technology is to be made effective, e-services have also been started.

He added that early disposal of cases is among the priorities. Transparency in the judicial system will provide justice. Earlier, the request for early appointment of cases used to lie in the Chief Justice’s room throughout the year. Today, I am announcing that we have also conducted an internal audit.

Justice Yahya Afridi further said that the issue of vacations of judges has been clarified in the Supreme Court Rules. No judge needs permission during judicial vacations, however, it will be mandatory to inform for vacations other than public holidays.

He also stated that 64 complaints against judges have been decided in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). 72 complaints have been given to the members for their opinion, the remaining 65 cases are left which will be given to the judges.

The Chief Justice said that there will be a meeting of the SJC by the end of this month. We are looking at the first cases first. We will not do like pick up a case from the bottom and bring it up.

He continued to say that the judges have decided to reduce the protocol. I used to have nine security vehicles with me, I said that there is no need for so much security as the court and residence are in the red zone, I have reduced my security vehicles to only two vehicles.
