Partnership aims to promote joint research and policy dialogue between ISSI and SIIS on regional and global challenges

Islamabad: The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) has taken a significant step in deepening its international partnerships by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), one of China's leading think-tanks.
The MoU, signed on September 2, 2025, in Shanghai, establishes a framework for long-term cooperation in areas such as joint research, policy dialogue, academic exchanges, co-publications, and participation in seminars and conferences on issues of mutual interest.
Joint Research and Policy Dialogue: The partnership aims to promote joint research and policy dialogue between ISSI and SIIS on regional and global challenges.
Academic Exchanges and Co-Publications: The MoU also provides for academic exchanges, co-publications, and participation in seminars and conferences on issues of mutual interest.
Ambassador Sohail Mahmood: “This MoU will serve as a sound foundation for sustained collaboration and knowledge-sharing between ISSI and SIIS”.
Professor Chen Dongxiao: “Closer academic linkages will further enrich China-Pakistan relations”.
Significance of the partnership: The ISSI-SIIS partnership is expected to contribute meaningfully to bilateral understanding and regional dialogue through joint research, publications, and academic cooperation, further strengthening scholarly and policy-oriented exchanges between Pakistan and China.
