Strict action will be taken against those charging higher prices


Islamabad: In an effort to stabilize sugar prices, the district administration has set a new official price for sugar in Islamabad.
The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has issued a notification regarding the new pricing.
According to the notification, the ex-mill rate for refined sugar has been fixed at Rs169 per kilogram, while the retail price has been set at Rs177 per kilogram.
These prices will be effective from September 15, 2025. Strict action will be taken against those charging higher prices. The notification also states that hoarding and profiteering will be dealt with severely.
Violations of the order will be punishable under the Price Control and Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act, 1977 and the Essential Commodities Act, 1958.
This decision was made in a joint meeting between the Ministry of National Food Security and the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad.
