TCP issues new tender for import of 100,000 tons of sugar

Islamabad: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has issued another tender for the import of 100,000 tons of sugar.

The government has decided to import sugar at the official level through TCP, and the federal government has granted tax exemptions on the import of sugar.

TCP has invited bids for the import of 100,000 tons of sugar by October 6. According to the documents, the bids will be opened on the same day, and any bid for less than 25,000 tons will not be accepted.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association has opposed the import of sugar, stating that there is already an ample supply of sugar in the country, and therefore, there is no need for imports.

It is worth noting that the federal cabinet had approved the import of 500,000 metric tons of sugar in July this year, under which TCP opened a tender for 100,000 tons of sugar on September 23, and four bids were received under that previous tender.
