Web Desk: Pakistan failed to secure even third place in the Sultan of Johor Junior Hockey Cup, losing 2–3 to England on Saturday.
In the match played in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, the English side launched an aggressive start and took an early lead, while Pakistan squandered several goal-scoring opportunities.
By full time, England had netted three goals against Pakistan’s two. Captain Hannan Shahid and Sufyan Khan each scored once for Pakistan. With this victory, England claimed the bronze medal.
Earlier, on 17 October, Pakistan had drawn 3–3 against Australia in a thrilling encounter. The Kangaroos dominated the early stages, taking a 2–0 lead by the end of the first quarter. However, Pakistan’s junior players mounted a strong comeback, scoring three consecutive goals in the following quarters, while Australia added one more. The match ended in a 3–3 draw.
On 14 October, Pakistan also played an exciting, nail-biting 3–3 draw against their traditional rivals, India.
