The no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has been delayed again, as PM Anwarul Haq continues to stand firm in his refusal to resign.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership has begun intensive consultations over the formation of a new government in AJK. A meeting of the PPP AJK Parliamentary Party has been called for today (Friday), to be chaired by PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, where important decision regarding the new Leader of the House is expected.
The names of Latif Akbar, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Chaudhry Yaseen, and Sardar Yaqoob are under consideration for the PM post. An official announcement from the party in this regard is expected soon.
Meanwhile, the PPP leadership reached an agreement with the President of Azad Kashmir after which it was decided that Barrister Sultan Mehmood will not be removed from his position and will continue as President in the PPP government. At the same time, the Barrister group has formally joined the PPP.
