The honour reinforces SSWMB’s position as a leading public sector institution driving positive environmental change in Sindh and beyond.

The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has earned national recognition by winning the prestigious 18th Annual CSR Award in the Waste Management Category, marking a significant milestone in its mission to build a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Sindh.
The coveted award was received by Managing Director Tariq Ali Nizamani at a prestigious ceremony held at the Serena Hotel Islamabad.
The honour was jointly presented by Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, in recognition of SSWMB’s outstanding contributions to environmental sustainability and public service.
The ceremony celebrated excellence in corporate social responsibility, with around 70 national and multinational organisations recognised for their impactful work in sustainability, environmental protection, community welfare, and philanthropic initiatives. Among them, SSWMB’s efforts stood out as a model of transformative public sector performance.
Addressing the audience, Tariq Ali Nizamani shared the inspiring journey of SSWMB’s gradual and effective rollout of modern waste collection and disposal systems in Karachi and other urban centres across Sindh.
He highlighted that contemporary waste management practices are being systematically introduced to modernise municipal operations and ensure efficient handling of urban waste.
He further emphasised that citizens are increasingly being encouraged to adopt responsible and sustainable waste practices, reducing the volume of organic and recyclable waste reaching landfill sites. This growing public awareness, combined with modern operational systems, is playing a key role in improving Sindh’s environmental landscape.

The SSWMB chief revealed that with the deployment of modern machinery and improved systems, more than 50 percent of nearly 30,000 tonnes of municipal waste generated daily across Sindh is now being scientifically collected and disposed of.
He added that the organisation is continuously expanding its operational capacity to ensure greater coverage, higher efficiency, and improved service delivery across the province.
Reaffirming the organisation’s vision, Tariq Ali Nizamani reiterated that SSWMB remains fully committed to strengthening waste management systems and contributing to a pollution-free, clean, and green Pakistan.
This prestigious CSR Award stands as a powerful recognition of SSWMB’s transformative role in environmental protection and its unwavering commitment to improving urban living standards through modern, sustainable waste management solutions.
The honour reinforces SSWMB’s position as a leading public sector institution driving positive environmental change in Sindh and beyond.
