PM Shehbaz Sharif meets JD Vance, discusses bilateral ties and regional issues

Islamabad: US Vice President JD Vance, who is visiting Pakistan to participate in peace talks with Iran, met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with his delegation. During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral relations and key regional issues.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were also present during the meeting with JD Vance. From the Pakistani side, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi attended the meeting.
The statement added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the commitment of both the US and Iranian delegations to engage in constructive dialogue and expressed hope that the negotiations would prove to be a significant step toward lasting peace in the region.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating dialogue between both sides and continuing its role in promoting sustainable peace in the region.
It is worth mentioning that both US and Iranian delegations have arrived in Pakistan to participate in peace talks being hosted and mediated by Pakistan. The Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, arrived in Islamabad on Friday evening, while US Vice President JD Vance reached the capital today.
