4.5 magnitude earthquake jolts Barkhan
An earthquake of 4.5 magnitude has jolted Barkhan and adjoining areas on Monday morning.
According to Met Office, the magnitude of quake was 4.5 at Richter scale, while its depth was recorded as 49 kilometers beneath the earth's surface.
The tremors spread panic amongst locals, although no loss of life and property was reported from any area.
Reportedly, huge shocks were also felt.
People came out of their homes in panic and started reciting verses of "Kalma Tayyaba."
Earlier on August 21, an earthquake jolted Karachi and adjoining areas on Saturday afternoon.
On August 4, a 5.3-magnitude earthquake jolted federal capital Islamabad, Peshawar and its environs. Earlier on August 19, an earthquake of 4.6 magnitude jolted Swat, Mangora, and adjoining areas.
The depth of the quake was recorded as 118 kilometers beneath the earth's surface while its epicenter was Hindukush mountain range.
In March, Swat was rocked by an earthquake measured at 3.9 on the Richter scale.
On February 17, Swat and other areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa experienced jolts originating from the Hindu Kush Mountains measured at 4.7 on the Richter scale.
