Kabul: The Acting Education Minister of Afghanistan, Abdul Baqi Haqqani held a press conference Sunday in Kabul—saying women can continue attaining education in gender-segregated universities, adhering to the Islamic dress code.

The Taliban raised their flag on the presidential palace on Saturday heralding the start of their government, and today education minister laid down the rules for the universities and institutes.
Minister said that they will not stop women from getting education, but the rules prescribed in Islam must be followed.
"Taliban did not want to turn the clock back 20 years, we will start building on what exists today," said Haqqani.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Taliban did not allow Afghan women to be a part of public life in the 1990s. But now they are allowing them under some stipulations.
Meanwhile, the Taliban are under surveillance by the world community on how they treat women, and till now Taliban have banned women from sports and baton-charged the women protestors.
