Punjab eyes herd immunity as 52% eligible population partially vaccinated
Herd immunity is a concept that refers to indirect protection from an infectious disease when people get vaccinated or contract and endure it in significantly large numbers. Â
Islamabad: Punjab has become Pakistan’s first province to have more than half of its eligible population with at least one dose.
The news was shared by Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on his official twitter handle.
“Punjab becomes the first province to have more than half it's eligible population with at least one dose at 52%. KP follows with 48%, Sind 40% and balochistan at 17%,” minister wrote.
The Minister for Planning added that the federal territories are leading in vaccination with Islamabad 87%, AJK 59% and Gilgit Baltistan 54 %.
The federal minister further stated that the national average of anti-Covid vaccination has reached 48% percent.
