The Chairman Senator has accepted his resignation.

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Ayub Afridi has resigned as member of the upper house of Parliament in order to vacate a seat for Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin in the Senate.
According to a notification issued by the Senate Secretariat, PTI's Muhammad Ayub Afridi submitted his resignation to Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and vacated his seat.
The Chairman Senator has accepted his resignation.
Ayub Afridi was elected as Senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in 2018 for a six-year term.
In a video message from parliament after his resignation was accepted by the Senate chairman, Afridi said Prime Minister Imran Khan had previously expressed the wish for him to resign, which is why he took the step now.
As per reports, Senator Ayub Afridi said that had earlier presented his resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan; however, the latter asked him to hold it till the Joint Session of the Parliament was over.
Reports quoting sources said that Senator Ayub Afridi has been appointed as the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Overseas Ministry.
