Karachi: In a drastic turn of events, the Supreme Court (SC) Monday first ordered the immediate removal of Murtaza Wahab as administrator Karachi and when the latter apologized, ordered his reinstatement.
As per details, the apex court resumed hearing of the Gutter Baghicha case at its Karachi Registry today (December 27).
During the proceedings, Murtaza Wahab and the judge got into a heated argument, following which the apex court ordered the removal of the Karachi administrator, asking him to leave the courtroom.
Moreover, the top court also removed all encroachments built on Gutter Bagheecha’s land and also the restoration of the park to its original condition.
Immediately after the orders were passed, Wahab apologized from the court but the judges remained firm on their decision to remove the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader.
Later, while talking to media persons, Murtaza Wahab said that it is an honor to serve his city Karachi and he will continue to do so.
“I respect the court and will never pass such comments again,” said Murtaza.
Reportedly, Murtaza Wahab, earlier in the day bitterly spoke to the bench of the Supreme Court, saying, "Why should we leave tomorrow, do you want us to leave the government?"
Expressing anger, Chief Justice Qazi Amin said, "Shut up, what are you talking about, don't do politics here".
Being annoyed at the PPP leader, the apex court questioned Murtaza “Are you an administrator or a political leader?” asking him to leave the courtroom.
“Get out of here, we're freeing you now,” the apex court said.
Moreover, during the hearing, angry Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed instructed Sindh Chief Minister (CM) to appoint an impartial and skilled person in place of Murtaza Wahab.
