FIA decides to shut 1,600 websites dealing in digital currencies business
The State Bank of Pakistan had banned the crypto business in 2018
Islamabad: The Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Ageency (FIA) has decided to shut 1,600 websites that are associated with digital and cryptocurrencies businesses.
The agency has approached the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for the purpose.
Accrding to CCW, the crytpcurrencies are acting as a tool for money laundering. As the crpto business has been banned in Pakistan since 2018, the agency has started compiling lists of people dealing the crypto business.
The FIA says the action is being taken against digital currency dealers after several citizens have become the victims of digital currency records.
