NEPRA okays hike in power tariff by Rs1.24 per unit

The increased tariff will make the consumers suffer by Rs46.76 billion.

Islamabad: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) again increased the prices of electricity by Rs1.24 per unit on Monday fulfilling the conditions of International Monetary Fund (IMF), GNN reported.

According to details, the energy rate has been increased under the purview of quarter fuel adjustment charges which will be applicable on the bills of months July, August and September.

The increased tariff will make the consumers suffer by Rs46.76 billion.

After the implementation, the minimum rate of per unit will increase from Rs24 to Rs25, while the maximum rate will increase from Rs40 to settle at Rs42.  

Earlier on July 5, the power tariff was increased by Rs1.90 per unit. While on July 4, Rs1.25 was added in the price of electricity.
