Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) declared the Supreme Court's decision to invalidate the Review of Judgments and Orders Act as historic.

According to details, PTI Senator Ali Zafar said that government had enacted this legislation to create scope for appeal on the order of election within 90 days.

PTI Core Committee stated: “The decision of the Supreme Court is an effective step against the attempts to change the constitutional scheme. Nawaz Sharif, convicted by the court, has no future in the country's politics”.

It is pertinent to note that earlier on yesterday (Friday), a three-member bench of Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Atta Bandial, annulled the Review of Judgments and Orders Act passed by the Parliament, calling it an infringement of legislative authority.

Justice Muneeb Akhtar wrote in an additional note that Parliament's legislation and the Supreme Court's powers to make rules are equal. Simple legislation cannot invalidate the Supreme Court rules, changing the rules is against the independence of the judiciary.
