Retired Justice Mazhar Alam also refuses ad hoc SC judge offer

Islamabad: Following the footprints of two judges, Justice Mazhar Alam (Retired) also decided not to become ad hoc judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP)

Earlier, retired Justices Mushir Alam and Maqbool Baqar declined the offers of the federal government to become ad hoc judges of the appellate court.

The Shehbaz government had suggested the names of Justice Mushir Alam (R), Justice Sardar Tariq Masood (R), Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel (R) and Justice Maqbool Baqar (R) against four vacant posts.

On the other hand, retired justices Sardar Tariq and Mazhar Alam showed their intent to be considered for the posts.

According to the sources, Justice Mazhar informed the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) about his decision of not accepting the offer.

JCP meeting

Meanwhile, an important meeting of the JCP took place today in the federal capital to consider the appointment of four ad hoc judges for a three-year term — Sardar Tariq Masood, Alam, Baqar, Miankhel.
