If PTI did wrong, so did govt: IHC
Chief Justice IHC directed Interior Ministry to submit detailed report
Islamabad: The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) expressed his agitation at the government and the administration and said that you were supposed to restore law and order but you shut down the entire Islamabad. If the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did wrong, the government was also wrong.
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the contempt of court petition of Islamabad traders against the PTI protest on November 24.
Chief Justice Aamer said that the petitioners asked their businesses to run. You said everywhere in the media that you were are not allowing it on the court order, however, the court had asked you to take care of the fundamental rights of citizens, traders and protesters.
The court remarked that you were supposed to restore law and order but you shut down the entire Islamabad. “I will also ask the PTI why the court orders were violated. If the PTI did wrong, the government also did wrong. What was the fault of the petitioner? Why did you shut down their business?”
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Aamer Farooq directed the Interior Ministry to submit a detailed report.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Legal Sajid Cheema and State Counsel Malik Abdul Rehman and others appeared in the court. State Counsel Malik Abdul Rehman said that some reports have come and some reports are yet to come.
The Chief Justice expressed his anger at the State Council and said that this is the first time you have appeared in court. This expert opinion was to be given there. “You had shut down Islamabad in such a way that even I, including the judges, could not come. I had become a victim of my order. I will also ask them what was the fault of the common citizens in the fight with the government”.
Later, the court sought a report from the Interior Ministry and adjourned the hearing of the case until next week.
