PM ready to fight, nominates Sadiq Sanjarni as senate chairman
Islamabad: The government has nominated Sadiq Sanjrani, the incumbent Senate chairman, as its candidate for the chairmanship of the upper house of Parliament.
According to Prime Minister Office, Imran Khan Phas announced Sadiq Sanjrani for Senate Chairmanship.
The news was also confirmed by Information Minister Shibli Faraz in a Twitter statement.
Earlier while chairing a meeting, PM said that he was sure money would play a pertinent role in senate elctions.
“I am not surprised by the tactics of opposition. I know some of our people exchanged loyalties and I know their names,” he said.
PM further stated that former President Asif Zardari used money in senate polls to buy votes.
Yesterday, in the most highlighted and awaited contest of Senate elections, former Prime Minister and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) joint candidate Yousuf Raza Gillani thumped PTI candidate Abdul Hafeez Sheikh. Gillani registered his victory from an Islamabad’s General seat.
The victory of opposition came as major blow for PTI, after which Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to take a vote of confidence from Parliament.
