Russia rejects NASA, will build lunar station with China
Moscow: Russia and China have agreed to build a space station on or near the moon, in an apparent rejection of an offer from NASA.
Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, and China's National Space Administration have signed an agreement this week to create the International Scientific Lunar Station.
The agreement comes as a signal that Russia will now abandon NASA, it's partner of 25 years, for China. Earlier, NASA had invited Russia to join the Artemis project.
The Roscosmos statement said the goal of the lunar station with China will be to strengthen scientific cooperation and promote “the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes in the interests of all mankind.”
NASA and Roscosmos were the two main partners responsible for building and operating the International Space Station.
