Lahore: The 'unethical' comments passed by PTI chairman Imran Khan against PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz during public address in Multan drew ire of politicians, journalists and activists and people from other walks of life.

Imran said someone sent him a clip from Maryam's public meeting from a day ago wherein she took his name many times.

"I want to tell you that your husband may get upset because of the way you are taking my name," the ex-PM said during his address.

The social media was flooded with a barrage of criticism against the former minister.

"The entire nation, especially women, should strongly condemn the deplorable language used against daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Your crimes against the country and the nation cannot be hidden by the expression of low humor. What can be expected of the honor and respect of mothers, sisters and daughters from those who don't pass the sanctity and honor of Masjid-i-Nabavi," Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a tweet.

Talking to Twitter, JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said: "Irrespective of his [Imran Khan] family matters we had alraedy said that this person is being imposed on us to destroy our civilization and this is a drone attack on our values and norms. This person has proved us right as he while making personal attacks on Maryam Nawaz had exposed him morally before the nation.
