A 40-year-old man was killed while 15 others sustained injuries after two ferries collided on the Shimulia-Majhikandi route in Shariatpur.
According to details, the accident took place around 4 am on Sunday when the passenger ferries—Begum Rokeya and Begum Sufia Kamal—collided face-to-face near Jajira.
Reportedly, the ferries collided due to the strong current in the Padma River.

Following the collision, the front parts of the two ferries and five vehicles were damaged severely.
After the unfortunate incident, the ferries reached their respective destinations and unloaded vehicles and passengers. The crashed ferry had more than 50 vehicles and over 200 passengers.
