Japan provides $2.3 million grant to Pakistan for human resource development

Islamabad: The Japanese government Tuesday extended grant assistance of Japanese Yen 313 million (approximately $2.3 million) to Pakistan for the project for Human Resource Development Scholarship.

According to a press statement issued by the Economic Affairs Division, through this scholarship, the government of Japan would provide 17 scholarships for a two-year master's degree programme and one scholarship for a three-year doctoral programme to the officers of the federal government of Pakistan at top Japanese universities.

This programme was introduced for the first time in Pakistan in 2018. 

The main objective of the programme is to strengthen the administrative capacities of the government of Pakistan by providing the opportunity to obtain master and doctorate degrees to capable government officers who are involved in the formulation and implementation of social and economic development in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, the secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs appreciated the government and people of Japan for their support with the assurance of extending all necessary facilitation for more meaningful cooperation between the two sides in future.

A signing ceremony in this regard was held at the ministry.
