Rawalpindi: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima said that the Prime Minister's laptop scheme has been revived to provide employment opportunities to the youth and promote entrepreneurship in the country, while addressing the closing ceremony of Global Entrepreneurship 2022 at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).
Shaza Fatima stated that it is unfortunate that the unemployment rate is 4.5%, while it is alarmingly high at the graduation level i.e. 35%.
She said, “Under the program, the government will provide interest free loans to more than 50 million youths in the age bracket of 15 and 29 and they are directed to visit pmyp.gov.pk in this regard”.
The Special Assistant added that this year laptops will be distributed among 100,000 high achievers with a 50% share for girls while transgender persons will also be accommodated.
Fatima further added, “The government is introducing structural changes in the education system in which there will be more focus on skills.
