Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Tuesday approved an increase of Rs0.18 per unit in the power tariff on account of monthly fuel adjustment (MFA).
The National Power Construction Corporation (NPCC) member from Sindh, Rafiq Shaikh said: “The use of local gas and coal had improved the electricity generation in November”.
NEPRA official said that the consumers will have to pay extra next month, the closure of the Neelum Jhelum plant produced less electricity, 11% less electricity was produced from hydel in November, also more electricity was produced by gas as compared to coal.
The Nepra officials further stated: “The violation of the merit order in November resulted in a burden of 66 million”.
During the hearing, the officials of National Power Construction Corporation (NPCC) said that it is surprising that we are still getting full supply of gas.
After the hearing, NEPRA approved to increase the cost of electricity by Rs0.18/unit for November, the detailed verdict will be issued later.
The increase will not be applied on K-Electric and lifeline customers.
