New York: United States expressed regret over Pakistan's non-participation in the Democracy Summit.
The spokesperson of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vedant Patel, said in a press briefing that there is a deep security partnership with Pakistan, and they keep talking about democracy, human rights, freedom of expression and religion.
Vedant stated: “Pakistan has the authority to take decisions regarding the summit, although we regret Pakistan's non-participation, but will continue to work together.”
The spokesperson added that US and Pakistan work together on many issues.
Notably the Democracy Summit continued from March 29 to 30.
