According to details, Chairman of All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI) Atiq Mir said that changing the market closure days is creating confusion among people.

He further demanded that all commercial markets should be allowed to operate late in the night during the month of Ramazan.

"Traders have spent huge amounts of money on purchasing goods for Eidul Fitr. Limiting market hours will only create problems for the common citizens," he said.

Moreover, the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiraan has also rejected the government's decision to shut markets and commercial activities twice a day every week.

"Instead of closing down business activities, the government should speed up the vaccination program,” he said.

"The Sindh chief minister should immediately order opening of markets for six days every week. Business hours should be extended to 10pm, and to 2am after the 15th roza, the union said.

Yesterday, the Sindh government had released a notification according to which all markets will only be allowed to operate from Sehri (dawn) till 6pm.

All commercial activities were told to remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays — as compared to Fridays and Sundays.

The decision has been taken as Pakistan battles third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than previous two waves.
