President calls to ensure quality education to children
Dr. Alvi stated that in Pakistan, child labour is completely banned.
Islamabad: President Dr. Arif Alvi Monday called for promoting social justice and ensuring provision of quality education to children to overcome the challenge of child labour.
In his message on the “World Day against Child Labour”, he said: “Child labour is a growing curse in the world, as according to the United Nations, around 160 million children are forced into child labour”.
The President emphasized that poverty, wars, terrorism and lack of access to education are the basic causes of child labour, which need to be overcome completely to eradicate the challenge.
Dr. Alvi stated that in Pakistan, child labour is completely banned and the government is providing educational scholarships to discourage child labour and attract children towards education.
