Greece boat accident: Police arrest main suspected human trafficker
The police assured to cooperate with FIA to arrest all the accused involved in the tragedy.
Vehari: Police arrested the main suspect of the human trafficker involved in the Greece boat accident.
According to police, the main accused of the tragedy and human trafficker Mumtaz Arain, has been arrested from Vehari.
Police termed it as in important arrest as the mobile phone of the co-accused Aslam has also been recovered from the accused Mumtaz.
Police official stated that important documents, mobile data and other evidences have been recovered from the accused who is being handed over to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further investigation. However other accused will be arrested soon.
The police assured to cooperate with FIA to arrest all the accused involved in the tragedy.
Earlier on Wednesday (June 14), the incident took place when a boat sank in the coastal area of Greece.
Initially, 78 people were killed in ship wreck, but later two more bodies were found, after which the death toll rose to 80. However, 104 were rescued, out of which 12 were from Pakistan.
About 750 migrants belonging to Pakistan, Egypt, Syria and other countries were on board the boat.
There are conflicting reports on the number of Pakistanis on board, with foreign media reports putting the number at around 400. Survivors told diplomatic staff that at least 200 Pakistanis were on board.
