PPP terminates party membership of senior leader Sardar Latif Khosa
The decision comes after Khosa's meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
Lahore: The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) decided to terminate the party membership of senior leader and lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa, the sources privy to the development said on Wednesday.
The decision comes after Khosa's meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. The sources claimed that no show-cause notice was issued to Khosa prior to the termination, and his deviation from the party's policies was cited as the reason.
Former Punjab governor Khosa had suggested that the PPP should part ways with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in order to strengthen its position in Punjab.
During a press conference at the Lahore High Court, he also stated that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari should not be part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's cabinet.
Earlier, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari removed Sardar Latif Khosa from the position of president of the People's Lawyer Forum (PLF). Sources indicate that the PPP leadership was displeased with Khosa's recent interviews and his criticism of the PDM government, particularly the PML-N, on judicial matters.
It was announced that PPP Secretary General Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari would assume the additional charge of president of the People's Lawyer Forum (PLF).
