Justice Tariq Mehmood said: “The decision to hear both cases by the same bench will be made by Chief Justice”.


Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Asad Umar and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the vandalism case of May 9, GNN reported.
According to details, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangir of IHC heard the case.
He said: “The decision to hear both cases in the same bench will be made by Chief Justice”.
Responding to which the state lawyer said that Asad Umar and Shah Mehmood have been nominated in both cases however, the cases have been registered in separate courts.
Asad Umar’s lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat requested to consider the early hearing of the case. To which the judge said that chief justice has the authority to decide if the case can be heard by the same bench or not.
The case has been registered in Tarnol police station Islamabad. Shah Mehmood has included himself in the investigation.
Earlier on June 23, IHC had granted interim bail to PTI leaders against the surety bond of Rs0.1 million each. It also ordered the police to not arrest Shah and Asad, directing them to submit the record till July 10.
