Pakistan reports highest single-day Covid-19 death toll in third wave
Islamabad: Pakistan has reported 157 deaths in one day as the third wave of the pandemic continued to rage across the country.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 5,908 cases of coronavirus were reported while 157 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 16,999.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 790,016.
As many as 682,290 patients have recovered from the disease with 4,682 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 285,542 in the province with 7,897 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 276,670 in the province, while the death toll has reached 4,587.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 112,140 in the province with 3,066 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 21,477 confirmed cases while 230 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 16,327 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 458. On the other hand, there are 5,247 cases in GB with 104 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 72,613 cases in the capital city while 657 people have lost their lives.
