The local residents reported that a fire broke out at the petrol pump claiming 27 lives.
According to international media, the incident took place in Dagestan, the southern region of Russia.
The deaths of 27 people have been confirmed, while many people are injured as well.
The local authorities stated at a loud explosion was heard at the petrol pump in the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala last night.
A fire broke out after the explosion at the pump, which engulfed the vehicles parked nearby.
As reported by the rescue officials, the fire explosion engulfed an area of about 600 square meters.
