PPP's CEC next meeting on polls to be held in Lahore
The Chief Election Commissioner will meet with the PPP committee's five members on Monday.
Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to call next meeting of its Central Executive Committee (CEC) in Lahore next month to further deliberate on matter of general elections in the country.
According to sources with knowledge of the development, the PPP CEC summit will take place in September and will be attended by the party's top officials, including former president Asif Ali Zardari, party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and others.
The PPP recently constituted a 5-member committee for early elections, with Syed Nayyar Bukhari, Sherry Rehman, Faisal Karim Kundi, and two others, at its CEC meeting in Karachi.
The Chief Election Commissioner will meet with the PPP committee's five members on Monday.
The committee will restate the party's demand to hold elections within the allotted period during their meeting. The committee will share information about its meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner with other party members.
Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Central Executive Committee (CEC) resolved to support holding the general elections in 90 days during a meeting in Karachi.
