Govt official accomplice in wheat smuggling
A report submitted to the Prime Minister's Secretariat includes the identification of 592 warehouses involved in wheat smuggling: Sources.
Islamabad: A wheat smuggling report is been submitted to the Prime Minister's Secretariat following the reports on currency, oil, sugar, and fertilizer.
According to the sources, government officials are involved in wheat, fertilizer, and sugar smuggling.
The report has identified 592 warehouses involved in wheat smuggling, while 26 smugglers are also involved in wheat smuggling.
Last year, the Intelligence Bureau Pakistan (IB) sent 417 reports to the concerned departments.
About 90147 metric tons of stored and smuggled wheat was seized after the identification from the sensitive agency.
The report has identified 259 government officials who helped smugglers.
These officially posted officers in provincial governments provide assistance to smugglers, and hoarders.
As per the reports, 272 government officials in Punjab, 244 in Sindh, and 56 in KP are helping smugglers, while 15 in Balochistan and 5 in Islamabad are accomplices of smugglers.
It should be noted that earlier, reports of the sensitive organization revealed that 29 politicians were also involved in the Iranian oil business.
