Aamer Farooq said: “Imran Khan was kept in Attock Jail in Toshakhana case for which his sentence has been suspended”

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday ordered the transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to Adiala Jail who was detained in the cypher case.
According to details, Chief Justice IHC Aamer Farooq heard the appeal of former Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding prison facilities.
During the hearing, Chief Justice IHC remarked that PTI chief is an under-trial prisoner in the Cypher case and all the under-trial prisoners in Islamabad are in Adiala Jail, why is the under-trial prisoner kept in Attock Jail instead of Adiala?
Justice Aamer Farooq said: “Imran Khan was kept in Attock Jail in Toshakhana case for which his sentence has been suspended”. He questioned the prosecutor if you get transferred to Rahim Yar Khan tomorrow, then will you try him from there?
The Islamabad High Court sought the answer from Additional Attorney General Manoor Iqbal Dogul.
Chief Justice of Islamabad remarked that according to the law, the under-trial prisoner of Islamabad should be in Adiala Jail, therefore Imran Khan should be shifted there.
Justice Aamer Farooq added: “It was told that A B and C classes categories in the jail now is not practiced anymore”.
Imran Khan's lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar replied that now there is a normal and better class in jail and Imran is entitled to a better class.
On which Justice Aamer said that it is clear that PTI chairman is entitled to a better class. He is a former prime minister and an educated person. According to the jail rules, he should get what he is entitled to and his rights should be fulfiled.
It is pertinent to note that chairman PTI was sentenced to three years imprisonment on August 5, 2023 in Toshakhana case and sent to Attock Jail.
The Islamabad High Court had suspended the sentence of Imran Khan in Tosha Khana case, but his release was not possible due to arrest in the cypher case.
