Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan Tuesday annulled the decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) regarding electricity load shedding.

According to details, a three-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan allowed Peshawar Electric Supply Company’s (PESCO) appeal.

The Supreme Court said that Peshawar High Court's order to end load shedding is against the law.

It has been directed by the court that the people affected by electricity load shedding should approach National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). The law has established NEPRA authority and tribunal forums against the discos.

The Supreme Court stated that the High Court cannot directly issue an order while the forum is concerned.

During the hearing, the lawyer of PESCO told the court that the Peshawar High Court ordered to file cases against the authorities on load shedding. It is the problem of the whole country, the cases against PESCO officials will be unjustified.

Justice Muneeb Akhtar said: “There may be many technical points in this matter, how will the court review it? What to do with the feeders that are not recovering”?
