Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and famous fashion designer Khadija Shah filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against her detention orders, arguing that her arrest in a new case is illegal.
Earlier on November 15, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore had accepted Khadija Shah's post-arrest bail appeal in the arson case near Rahat Bakery and ordered the accused to deposit surety bond of Rs100,000.
However, on November 17, Deputy Commissioner Lahore issued orders to detain Khadija Shah for 30 days, and following the recommendation of Superintendent Police (SP) Cantt and District Intelligence Branch, she was detained. According to the notification, Khadija Shah participated in the violent activities on May 9.
On the other hand, Khadija Shah filed a separate petition for contempt of court in the Lahore High Court, which was heard today.
Counsel for the petitioner submitted that Khadija Shah was granted bail on November 15, and on the same day, the notification of her detention was also issued.
The lawyer took the stand that according to the police report there are two cases against Khadija, her arrest has been made in a new case which is illegal.
After hearing the arguments of the lawyer, the court adjourned the hearing of the case for some time.
