ECP stops training of DROs, ROs
Training of DROs and ROs was going on in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta.
Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday stopped the ongoing training of District Returning Officers (DROs) and Returning Officers (ROs).
According to the spokesperson of Election Commission, this training has been stopped by the Election Commission as per the order of Lahore High Court (LHC).
The spokesman said that in view of the court order, the ECP has also issued a letter to the Election Commissioners of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan on an emergency basis.
Training of DROs and ROs was going on in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta.
It is pertinent to note that the Lahore High Court has suspended the notification of the ECP to conduct the general elections on February 8 through bureaucracy.
The court recommended the constitution of a larger bench on the petitions against holding the elections by the executive and Justice Ali Baqir Najafi sent the file to the Chief Justice.
Apart from this, yesterday, the Election Commission also banned the transfer posting of Deputy Commissioners and Additional Deputy Commissioners across the country.
