Consumption of petroleum products in Pakistan falls by 15%
The country recorded sales of 9.03 million tons of petroleum products.
Islamabad: The sales of petroleum products in the country have recorded a decline of 15 percent on annual basis in the first six months of the current financial year.
According to Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), the country recorded the sales of 7.68 million tons of petroleum products in the first six months of the current financial year (July to December), which is 15% less than the same period of the previous financial year.
In the same period of the previous financial year, the country recorded sales of 9.03 million tons of petroleum products.
The country recorded sales of 1.24 million tons of petroleum products in December, which is 10% less than in November as the sales of petroleum products were recorded at 1.37 million tons in November.
In December 2023 compared to December 2022, sales of petroleum products decreased by 7% on annual basis.
While in December 2022, the country recorded sales of 1.33 million tons of petroleum products, which declined to 1.24 million tons in December 2023.
According to the statistics, in the first six months of the current financial year, the country recorded sales of 3.57 million tons of petrol, 3.16 million tons of High Speed Diesel (HSD) and 0.56 million tons of furnace oil.
In the first six months of the financial year, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) recorded sales of 3.85 million tons, Attock Petroleum 0.78 million tons and Hascol Petroleum 0.20 million tons of petroleum products.
