London: Queen Elizabeth has paid tribute to her late husband Prince Philip by wearing one of her favourite piece from the jewellery he gifted her.

During an official engagement, the Queen could be seen wearing the “scarab” brooch, a personal gift her husband gifted her in 1966. The piece, designed by Andrew Grima, is made out of gold and has ruby and diamonds set in it. The monarch paired the precious piece with a red coat, a red floral hat and pearls on her neck and ears.
The Queen was visiting the staff of the HMS Queen Elizabeth ahead of the ship’s maiden voyage.
The Queen has worn the piece through the years. Most recently on the official portrait released by Buckingham Palace in 2017, when Her Majesty and the Prince celebrated 70 years of being married.
In April, Philip, the longest-serving consort in British history and then the oldest member of the royal family, died at the age of 99.
The queen continued her tradition of sending letters to the love of her life at his funeral, held one week after his death. She wrote a note, which appeared to read in part, "I love you.” It was placed along with a wreath on the top of his casket during the funeral service.
