Elections: 17,000 polling stations declared highly sensitive, 30,000 sensitive
Pakistan Army will be deployed outside the most sensitive polling stations.


Islamabad: On the occasion of general elections in Pakistan, 16,766 polling stations have been declared as highly sensitive and 29,985 as sensitive.
According to the officials, the presiding officers will exercise the powers of magistrate first class to control the law and order situation at the polling stations, while Pakistan Army will be deployed outside the most sensitive polling stations.
An Election Management System (EMS) will be used to transmit and edit the results of the general elections.
On the other hand, officials stated that it has not been decided yet to shut down the internet service anywhere on election day.
It is pertinent to note that delivery of electoral materials to presiding officers and polling staff has been started for general elections across the country to be held on February 8.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), 90,675 polling stations and 2,66,398 polling booths have been established across the country to exercise the right of the people to vote, while 1,490,000 election staff will perform the duties of polling.
