Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb remarked: "Who is sitting in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and doing this”.
Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday suspended the notification of victory of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Tariq Fazal Chaudhry from NA-47 and others from NA-46 and NA-47 Islamabad.
According to the details, Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Arbab Tahir of IHC heard the appeals against the decision of the single member bench of the High Court in the case of election exemption of Constituency NA-46, NA-47 and NA-48 of the federal capital.
During the hearing, the High Court suspended the notification of victory of PML-N candidate Tariq Fazal Chaudhry from NA-47.
Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb remarked: “Ask the officer who issued this notification, who is sitting in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and doing this”.
It is pertinent to note that PML-N candidate Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and independent candidate backed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Shoaib Shaheen were competing in the general elections from NA-47 constituency of the federal capital.
Notably, ECP had issued the notification of the success of Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, according to which he won by securing 102,502 votes from this constituency, however, the notification was challenged by Shoaib Shaheen.
