Newly elected members of KP assembly takes oath
Speaker Mushtaq Ghani administered oath to 115 newly elected members.
Peshawar: The newly elected members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Wednesday took oath in the oath-taking ceremony for which the session of provincial assembly started with a delay of about two hours, but there was serious disorder in the meeting.
The inaugural session was called at 11:00am today which started at around 12:45 am.
In the meeting chaired by Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mushtaq Ghani, first prayers were offered for the deceased and martyrs, after which Mushtaq Ghani administered oath to 115 newly elected members.
After the swearing in ceremony, Speaker Mushtaq Ghani said that the nomination papers for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker election can be submitted till 5:00pm today and the papers can be withdrawn till 12 midnight. Polling for the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be held tomorrow at 10:00am.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) activist Sobia Shahid reached the assembly hall with a watch in her hand, where she was showing the watch to the people. During which the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) threw pot, shoe, empty bottle, and pen at her. However, she continued to show the watch to people.
Meanwhile, the PTI workers present in the assembly raised loud slogans while PTI's nominated Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was also present in the assembly.
It is pertinent to note that the administration has issued more than 1,000 passes to attend the assembly session and the capacity of people in the assembly is less than that due to which serious disorder has been seen in the assembly even before the session begins.
People who wanted to watch the assembly meeting entered the assembly hall in a rush and many people who did not have passes also entered the assembly hall. During this, there was a fierce fight between the people and whoever got the opportunity sat there.
The police closed the gate of the assembly after the disorder, but the workers entered the assembly premises by jumping from the outside routes. Due to the chaos, many media representatives did not get a chance to enter the assembly and most of the newly elected members had to face problems in parking their vehicles.
