ECP to hold Senate elections in first week of April
Director General (DG) Training Saeed Gul has been appointed as Returning Officer for Islamabad.
Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to hold the Senate elections in the first week of April.
48 members of the Senate retired today after completing their term, one general and one technocrat seat of Islamabad became vacant while 12 seats were vacant in the Senate of Punjab and Sindh each.
11 Senate seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan each fell vacant including seven general, two women and two technocrat seats fell vacant from all four provinces, while one minority seat each from Punjab and Sindh also fell vacant.
The Election Commission has appointed the Returning Officers (ROs) for the Senate elections. The provincial election commissioners will perform the duties of the returning officers in the provincial assemblies.
Director General (DG) Training Saeed Gul has been appointed as Returning Officer for Islamabad.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has officially started the preparations for the Senate elections.
