The petitioner has taken the stand that public funds cannot be used for personal publicity, putting Nawaz Sharif's picture on the Kisan card is a violation of the law.
Lahore: The move to put the picture of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif on Kisan card was challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC).
The petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court by citizen Mashkoor Hussain through the mediation of a lawyer, in which the Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the provincial government and Nawaz Sharif have been made parties.
The petitioner has taken the stand that public funds cannot be used for personal publicity, putting Nawaz Sharif's picture on the Kisan card is a violation of the law.
It has been requested in the petition that the LHC should stop the Punjab government from issuing Kisan cards with Nawaz Sharif's picture, and that the expenses incurred for putting Nawaz Sharif's picture on the Kisan card should be recovered from him.
The petitioner said that the Lahore High Court should order to stop the printing of Kisan Card till the final decision of the petition.
It is pertinent to note that yesterday Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz approved the ‘Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card’ in a meeting held on agricultural reforms under her chairmanship.
