Since July 1, number of people who have died due to accidents and floods in different districts of Balochistan has increased to 19


Islamabad: In different parts of the country, including Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rains and flood lanes caused havoc. Many villages were submerged, mud houses were washed away, crops were drowned, and dozens of people lost their lives in various incidents.
The flood situation continues in several places including Qila Abdullah, Pashin, Ziarat, and Muslim Bagh in Balochistan. Three more people died in various incidents due to rains and flood situations.
A child died after drowning in the flood barrier in Qila Abdullah. On the other hand, all seven people were pulled out of the car—stuck in the Kolk river.
Since July 1, the number of people who have died due to accidents and floods in different districts of Balochistan has increased to 19, including nine children.
Heavy rains in Bela have damaged ready cotton crops, while dozens of villages on the Afghan border have been cut off from flood relief in Nushki's Gurang Nala.
Electric poles fell due to heavy rains and strong winds in Jhal Magsi. Dozens of villages were submerged due to a crack in the Rabi Canal.
According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 126 houses were destroyed due to rains in different districts of Balochistan while 307 houses were partially damaged.
Six bridges were affected by the flood rails, 31 km of roads were broken and several acres of standing crops were damaged.
A 30-feet wide fissure near village Bhai Khan Lashari in Sindh's Dadu region has caused water to seep into standing crops. Several villages of Kacha in Tehsil Sehun are surrounded by water.
In Nawabshah, the cotton and rice crops have been severely damaged by the torrential rains, while 10 villages and crops have been submerged by a breach in the Nowshehro Firoz dam.
The flood situation in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan areas of Punjab has seriously affected the rural areas. A person died in the flood of Vidur river while a girl drowned in a sewer in Rajanpur.
The upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chitral, Swat, and Upper Dir have been badly affected by the floods, with flood lanes inundating several villages while infrastructure and crops have also been severely damaged in several areas.
With the support of the United Nations subsidiary, protective embankments have been constructed along the rivers in the flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while water and irrigation channels are also being constructed at various places, which will irrigate thousands of acres of land.
