According to local media reports, the explosion was set off by the USS Gerald R. Ford, causing a 3.9-magnitude earthquake in Daytona Beach of Florida.

The explosion was so big that it caused less than 4 magnitude earthquake roughly 160 km away. It was conducted underwater with a navy ship above the water as part of a trial to test its war-time abilities.

The blast was intended to show how durable ships are when confronted with a bombing, whether above waters or underwater.

A military spokesperson stated that it wasn’t unusual for such explosions to produce earthquakes.

The video, recorded from the wing of a US Navy aircraft carrier, has been shared on its official twitter handle.

The clip has already been viewed almost 340,000 times on social media app.

“Ever wonder what a 40,000 pound explosive looks like from the bridge wing of a @USNavy aircraft carrier?,” the caption read.
