Owner says step taken in the interest of national welfare and consumer affordability

Karachi: Asia Pak Investment Chairman Shehryar announced reduction of electricity prices from one of the Independent Power Producer.
This was announced during a press conference in Karachi on Wednesday.
Shehryar Chishti explained that the price cut was made because consumers are struggling to afford electricity.
He noted that the power situation in the country has worsened and that electricity prices should be reduced.
Shehryar Chishti emphasized that, in the interest of national welfare and consumer affordability, electricity prices need to be lowered.
He pointed out that in 2021, all IPPs had reduced the rate of return by 11%, and similar reductions in electricity prices should be implemented again.
On occasion another IPP CEO Imran Khan stated that the return on equity will be voluntarily reduced from 18 percent to 10 percent.
