Major Aziz was the only martyr to receive the Nishan-e-Haider during 1965 war

Lahore: The 59th martyrdom anniversary of Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed— the hero of 1965 war— is being observed today.
There is no doubt that the death of a martyr is a new message of life for the nation, such a message was also given by Major Aziz Bhatti, the only Nishan-e-Haider recipient, during the September 1965 war.
Although the Indian attack on the Lahore front on the morning of September 6 was stopped, the front was still under threat, nothing but smoke, dust and gunpowder was visible everywhere. In such a situation, 120 hours had passed since Major Aziz commanded a company in Barki area of Lahore.
On the night of September 9 and 10, due to the immense pressure of the enemy, Major Aziz Bhatti along with his troops reached the bank of the BRB Canal on the Lahore side and continued the resistance.
Major Aziz Bhatti reached this side of the canal and organized his company anew. The enemy was pouring heavy fire from their small arms, tanks, and cannons but Raja Aziz Bhatti continued to face this intense pressure. A shell of a tank hit them, by which they were martyred on the spot, but the message was given to the enemy that they would never reach the threshold of Lahore.
After his martyrdom, Major Aziz was awarded the Nishan-e-Haider, he was the only martyr to receive the Nishan-e-Haider during this war.
On this occasion, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Services Chiefs and Pakistan Army paid tribute to the martyr.
According to the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) Department of Pakistan Army, Major Aziz Bhatti's sense of duty, unwavering determination and great sacrifice will always be remembered.
The ISPR said that the Armed Forces of Pakistan salute the memory of Major Aziz Bhatti and pay tribute to his legacy.
